The Opportunity:

Nutanix is looking for the next Global Head of Design to lead and evolve the Design Team. This role focuses on Product Experience at a pivotal moment in time for our platform expansion and AI-driven transformation. This role sits at the intersection of experiential strategy, executional excellence and designer evolution. 

You will evolve how the Nutanix Cloud platform experience continues to be One-Click and frictionless as the platform capabilities and scale continue to expand. Furthermore, this is a great opportunity to reimagine UX | UI and bring to life an AI-powered experience transformation.

About the Team:

This role has 5 direct reports with a global team of approximately 80.  

We are looking for a creative, supportive, people-centric leader who operates with calm, clarity, and decisiveness in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environments.  

We are a team of systems thinkers with deep experience designing for complex, enterprise platforms.  We’re comfortable working at multiple altitudes—from vision and strategy to hands-on design direction.  

We are a strong cross-functional team with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders.  We are experienced in scaling product experiences, design teams, systems, and processes in high-growth environments and are familiar with designing AI-enabled experiences and data-driven products.

Your Role:

Success in this role requires the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity, drive alignment across deeply technical teams, scale design systems and practices that enable delivery of frictionless and consistent user experiences throughout the platform.  Furthermore, the ability to evolve the existing people-centric culture at scale is critical.

What You Will Bring:

• You will evolve the design vision across Nutanixʼs platform, ensuring consistency across products, surfaces, and user journeys.

• You will lead the evolution of a unified design system that supports modular, scalable product development.

• You will deeply embed design into product strategy, continuing to shape roadmaps through user insights and business context.

• You will operationalize calm with high execution.  

• You will establish clear operating models that enable teams to move fast without sacrificing rigor.

• You will bring structure to ambiguity—creating alignment and prioritization.  

• You will maintain a high experience bar and ensure end-to-end experience quality.

• You will lead through Cross-Functional Influence.  

• You will partner deeply with Product and Engineering leadership to translate strategy into measurable experiential outcomes.

• Navigate trade-offs across technical constraints, timelines, and user needs with pragmatism and clarity.

• You will act as a connective layer across teams, ensuring design intent is preserved from concept through delivery.

AI Transformation:

• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into product experiences in ways that are intuitive, trustworthy, and valuable to users.

• Reimagine and deliver a fundamentally AI-first experience.

• Envision and manifest an AI-leveraged Design/SDLC process that improves speed, exploration, and decision-making.

• Lead Change and Evolve design maturity.

• Drive adoption of modern design practices, tools, and processes across the organization.

• Uplevel design maturity by introducing scalable frameworks for research, validation, and iteration.

• Lead through change with clarity—aligning stakeholders and building trust across functions.

• Continue to evangelize design so the Design DNA is not lost as we scale.

Scale and Develop the Design Organization:

• Evolve a collaborative and high-performing global team.

• Ensure Designer evolution continues in well designed scalable and supportive environments.

• Ensure processes are lightweight but effective with a bias for 1-click automation wherever possible.

Work Arrangement:

This role is based in San Jose, CA.  Should the role be within 50 miles of a Nutanix office, it will require coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager. 

 

Pay Transparency: 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $438,400  and USD $657,600 per year.  However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.  If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
